The Curriculum
At the Crawford International School we are guided by the British Curriculum for the Early Foundation Programme and the Cambridge International Examinations Board is the preferred choice of syllabus in the majority of subject areas. The Cambridge syllabus is learner-centred and enquiry based which aligns well with the Crawford educational philosophy. This means, we are prepared for the IGCSE and in time the A-level examinations
In Grade 11, I am actively engaged in a comprehensive curriculum that includes Math and English as compulsory subjects while Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Mandarin, Art and Business as my elective subjects. I have constantly been among the top 10 in my class from year 5 to 10 and achieved individual awards in subjects such as distinctions in Business Studies, English and more.
I have also been involved in various extracurricular activities, such as World Scholars, debate club and msmun. Within world scholars, my team achieved being 4th overall in debate and 8th overall to qualify for the global round in Sweden, and was 6th in Africa in Sweden and one of the top 40 teams there, prompting us to qualify for the tournament of champions in New York, USA.
In debate, I have participated in an open debate tournament at United States International University (USIU) where my team managed to qualify to the gold cup finals where finished as runners up at the competition in February of 2023. Later on in that year, I participated in the pan-African debate tournament in South Africa where I got 13th best speaker in East Africa.
Language Skills: Mandarin
I’m an open-minded and curious individual always eager to learn new things. Mandarin has captured my interest, reason why I chose it as one of my elective subjects. I’m excited to explore the language and culture for personal growth and future career benefit.
In this video, our tutor guides us through personal introductions: name, grade, and also our favorite foods like dumplings and rice among others and what we like about the Chinese culture as a whole.
